As designers of the New Life Launch Pad system in Wilmington, N.C., we are pleased and grateful for what we have accomplished these last seven years. Our program of structured living has proved a great benefit in hundreds of re-claimed lives. We know that's a reasonable figure because, for the most part, we know who they are and where they are today.

As caseworkers, family members and community activists, who have joined together with us in this modern arena of intervention, we salute you! We also hereby inform you of our current strategies. Along with traditional Halfway House living, our innovative structure, and the established Launch Pad program of guided study and interaction, we now offer a scientific, clinical treatment program as well.

We're providing four housing options for people who want and need "Long Term Treatment." These residences are nice, normal, large homes in pleasant residential neighborhoods. Two of these are for men, and two are for women. In-system cooperation makes transfer between levels of our programs convenient. After a resident in the standard program remains abstinent for a few weeks or months, he or she may recognize mental and emotional triggers that can best be dealt with in a professional therapeutic program. Our newest level of service is just such a program, and can be accessed as one amenity of the dedicated houses.

This six-month treatment program, serving as a complement and component of residential services, makes treatment-graduation into the standard Halfway House program a valuable, supported step back toward fully independent self-management.
